Project: Clueless™ CD-ROM

Objectives:

On behalf of Mattel, bring Paramount Entertainment Group an initiative to develop the Clueless brand through creation of a CD-ROM that leverages the story's strong themes, and the character traits of the series' lead character, Cher, in addition to other brand initiatives, like an original board game.

Process:

Nena Media principal Jesyca Durchin executive produced Mac/PC CD-ROM development, including negotiation of voiceover and still image rights with individual celebrities from the television series.

After reviewing multiple focus groups made up of girls, Jesyca helped the team create a “digital closet” that enables girls to take pictures of items of their own clothing and combine them with digital pictures of Clueless fashions from the television show.

Results:

+ Creation of an engaging interactive experience that lets girls hear hit music, play games and give makeovers to the Clueless characters.
+ Development of breakthrough technology for the software's mix-and-match your own wardrobe feature, the Unique Boutique, integrating digital camera images with stills assets on the CD-ROM. This original and popular feature was ahead of its time, and helped promote a new demand for digital creativity products that can be personalized for individual users.
+ Completion of a product placement deal with Rampage clothing, bringing current, popular fashions and hip credibility into the experience.
+ One of the top 10 children’s PC games of 1997

Project: Barbie Fashion Designer CD-ROM

Objectives:

+ Develop a new kind of interactive experience for girls that allows the design and creation of doll apparel.
+ Create one-of-a-kind doll fashions that any girl can easily make using software.

Process:

Nena Media principal Jesyca Durchin worked with a talented doll fashion designer to create unique fashions to print and assemble from the Fashion Designer software.

As creative producer in charge of production, Jesyca managed work flow between Mattel and Digital Domain.

Serving as task manager for the creation of “Barbie Fashion Fabric”, Jesyca was challenged with creating prototype fabric for the printing of doll fashions. Worked with Avery R&D and Mattel overseas manufacturing to procure two varieties of fabric.

Results:

+ Creation of a first-of-class interactive product that is credited as having "started the revolution in girl gaming".
+ Development of a new fabric that can be used in heavy home printer use, and which allows any girl to craft high-quality clothes for their Barbie dolls.
